Do you want to market your own brand, product or service?

Do you want to learn pursue a new career?

Well, if you do, then this course is for you!

Who is this course for?

Our students have used the skills they gained in our digital marketing course to launch

  1. for their own brands, products and/ or services.
  2. a career with an in-house marketing teams.
  3. a career with a marketing agency.

The course sets out to give you a solid all round understanding of what it means to create a website, make it findable on search engines, create compelling content for it, use social media to promote it, and to monitor the impact of your marketing with analytics.

How does the course work?

The course is delivered on our LMS (learning management system) which will be available to you from Monday 1st February.

There are 5 units which have a total of 38 videos you can watch them at your own pace. If you really wanted to you could just watch them all back to back, but we’d recommend you take a bit more time.

We estimate you could complete the course and have a working search-engine-findable website, with content on it, social media and analytics set up within 7 to 10 days if you do a couple of hours each day.

Will I need to get anything else to do this course?

You’ll need a computer and, if you want to build your own website as you follow along, you’ll need a domain name and hosting. We have a pre-course worksheet that will help you with all of this, not least in picking a good name for your website!

How do we get support and help?

Students will get one month, from 1st February, of free access to the Helleau Preau Facebook Group which includes a weekly live call to answer questions.

The group normally costs £50 per month to join and offers support to people developing skills in digital marketing, includes a weekly live call with our founder and brand marketing expert Andrew Burnett, to answer questions.

TOPICS DOES THE COURSE COVER? / WHAT WILL I LEARN?

Unit 1: Creating Your Website

You need a website at the centre of your digital marketing efforts. Of course you can use social media and other platforms too, but you own your own website and as such have much more control over it. This is something that many people are scared by, but we show you how to quickly create a great looking (and working) website for yourself.

We use WordPress and talk you through everything you’ll need to do to get it set up, working and looking great.

After this unit you will have a website that you know how to run and maintain and edit.

Videos included:

  1. Introduction to Digital Marketing
  2. Installing WordPress
  3. WordPress backend overview
  4. Plugins
  5. Themes
  6. Enfold Premium Theme
  7. Demo Import
  8. Editing your site

Like all the units on this course, this is very hands on and is designed to give you the confidence to do it for yourself. It is not rocket science and you CAN do it, we know you can!

Unit 2: Search Engines

If nobody can find you, do you even exist? Well of course you do, but search engines can be a confusing and even scary prospect for people to learn about. This unit breaks down how they work and what you can do to be visible on them.

We look at what SEO (search engine optimisation) is and, hopefully, make it a lot more accessible to you than you perhaps thought it was. This unit, like all the units on this course, aims to give you a solid foundation in how SEO works so that you can use it to your advantage.

We also introduce a plugin which will help you with a lot of the work that is involved with SEO.

Videos included:

  1. Introduction to SEO
  2. What is SEO?
  3. How do search engines work?
  4. What is a SERP?
  5. What is a keyword?
  6. Finding keywords – part 1
  7. Finding keywords – part 2
  8. How to use your keywords
  9. RankMathSEO plugin

Despite what you may have been told, like everything else about digital marketing, SEO is not massively complicated to get started with. Sure there are experts needed when you get to have huge ecommerce sites, but you absolutely can, and should, get started yourself. This course will help you understand the basics!

Unit 3: Content

What will people read / look at / listen to on your website?

Oh, yeah! Content, baby!

In this unit we look at creating content for your website which will also work for both search and social media. After all, if you can kill 2 birds with one stone, you absolutely should (this is a metaphor, please don’t actually kill birds).

Videos included:

  1. Introduction to content
  2. What is the purpose of your content?
  3. Content for search and social
  4. Finding assets
  5. Using images
  6. Videos
  7. Source for great deals on content

Without content a website is like a cookie jar without cookies, ain’t nobody wants that! Your content isn’t only for people to drool over, it’s also to help search engines know what your page is all about, and it’s to encourage social media action too!

This unit will get you off on the right footing. We look at how you can get free assets to use for your content, and we introduce a source for finding great deals on content stuff too.

Unit 4: Social Media

Everyone uses social media these days, except Donald Trump who’s not allowed anymore, so your digital marketing probably should include social media too!

Of course, it’s easy to sit on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram for hours and be amused / angry at all you consume, but that’s not helping your brand, products or services, is it? So, in this unit we look at using social media to build a smart digital marketing strategy, as opposed to using it for your recreational purposes (whatever they may be – no judgement here!)

Videos included:

  1. Introduction to social media
  2. Being the dealer
  3. Setting up the big 3
  4. Platform-specific strategy
  5. Twitter
  6. Instagram
  7. Facebook
  8. Growing your audience

Clearly in 2021, and beyond, social media is an essential part of life for many of us. This is unlikely to change anytime soon, so we will look at how we can benefit from the armies of people glued to their devices and at how we can avoid the trap of being glued to our devices ourselves!

Unit 5: Analytics

What good is doing all the work on your website, SEO, content, and social media but not having a clue what is actually working and what is not working? Or even worse, not even knowing IF it is working? That would be a bit rubbish, right? It would be worse than rubbish, it would potentially be expensive!

This unit will introduce you to concepts in analytics to help you recognise and measure things that are important to your digital marketing efforts. Each case is different and each case will have different metrics to consider, so this unit sets out to give you the foundational understanding of the what, where and when of analytics to give you the confidence to trust your measurements.

Videos included:

  1. Introduction to analytics
  2. Web analytics
  3. SEO analytics
  4. Twitter analytics
  5. Instagram analytics
  6. Facebook analytics

Analytics is perhaps the part of digital marketing that scares most people, but it needn’t. We look to make analytics much less terrifying and more cuddly, okay, maybe not cuddly, but at least accessible. Having confidence in the data available to you leads to you being able to make better decisions and better decisions lead to better results, it’s like a non-vicious vicious cycle!

Previous students said…

When I first signed up to take part in Helleau’s ‘intro to digital marketing’ course I was a little apprehensive as the closest I had been to digital marketing was posting a selfie on Instagram.

However, the course was very well structured and I found I could understand and engage with the course material very easily. Andrew was incredibly helpful whenever I got stuck with anything, answered all my questions within the hour and our weekly Q&A call always left me looking forward to the next weeks material.

I can’t recommend the course highly enough, from what Andrew has taught me in just a few short weeks I am now able to create my own website, develop my own digital marketing strategies and promote my services through a variety of social media platforms.

If Helleau ever offer any other course like this one, I would be very excited to participate.

I didn’t know anything about digital marketing before taking the module with Andrew. I barely knew what the term entails.

The course equipped me with the right knowledge to be able to take digital marketing as a career choice. Today I’m a digital marketer and growth hacker, all thanks to Andrew.

His teaching ways are very practical and he has the ability to empower his students with tools and knowledge required in the current market. Andrew also has a lot to offer in terms of his own experience with online marketing and learnings from that.

He truly understands the essence of viral content, product marketing and gauging what the consumer would engage with.

I was Andrew’s student at The University of Dundee and since it was a digital marketing course I had high expectations because today’s marketer job has become very complex.

My expectations have not only been met but exceeded by the way Andrew taught the class.

He has a unique mix of hands-on experience and theory which have been interwoven in such a way that it creates an easy to follow and comprehensive flow.

Digital marketing is easy to learn if is taught well and Andrew certainly knew how to do that.

Andrew taught us Digital Marketing for our Masters course at University of Dundee.

Entering into it I had no idea about the Digital side of marketing but that changed very soon because of his teaching. Only in few weeks I had a lot of knowledge about it and actually started to love the subject. And all the credit goes to Andrew. His dedication and knowledge is commendable.

His lectures are not only informative but also fun. I am very grateful for his efforts and time that he put into us.

Honestly, the Digital Marketing course and the Search Marketing (where you were the teacher as well) were the most interesting courses I attended during my MSc experience.

Your knowledge in these fields are impressive and I think you are a great teacher! The best things during the course were the case studies and the group assessment we did.

I learned a lot and thanks to you I got passionate about Digital Marketing.
